Cupping
Cupping is originally part of Traditional Chinese Medicine but was also used in Europe until the Victorian era. It is a very mechanical treatment. The vacuum created in the cup physically sucks the skin and underlying soft tissue up, causing a prolonged (approx 4 minutes) stetch on the superficial layers of muscle.
We have been using cupping for the last ten years. During this time cupping has become quite fashionable among celebrities and caused quite a stir at the 2016 Rio Olympics when many of the swimmers appeared on the blocks with cupping marks.
